Friends of Childwall Woods and Fields (FCWF) now offer a series of regular events for its members, particularly during the spring , summer and autumn.
These members-only events are a way to say ‘Thank You’ to our members for all their support. They are not open to the general public.
As a member of FCWF, you will be invited to the events by email.

Discover the Trees of Childwall Woods & Fields – a guided walk
How well do you know your trees? How many types of trees can you identify?
Childwall Woods and Fields is a great place to discover trees. The trees of Childwall Woods are well known for their size and beauty, and we also have a surprising variety of trees – 50 species in all – in the plantations on the Fields.
This guided walk will focus on identifying common tree families and aims to increase your enjoyment and appreciation of the nature reserve. Your guide will be Andrew Scott, who is a Trustee of the Friends, a tree freak, and a veteran tree verifier for the Woodland Trust.

Wednesday, 22nd of October at 3.30pm – A member’s only Fungi Walk. 🍄
A guided walk through the woods to discover the diverse array of fungi that appear in our beautiful Nature Reserve at this time of year, and hear about their crucial role in the ecosystem.
Not plants and not animals, they form a huge kingdom of over 100,000 species. Let’s find a few in our woods.
Meet at the main gates on Childwall Abbey Road at 3.30 pm on Wednesday, 22nd of October.
