Here are SOME of the Members Only Events planned for 2024

Sunday 12th May at 8am.  An Early Morning Bird Walk

The dawn chorus is one of the glories of spring, and the best time to really appreciate bird song is early in the day.  Come with us and discover the birds of Childwall Woods & Fields, particularly our spring visitors such as the chiffchaff, blackcap and whitethroat.

To join Andy, David and Izzie for this event please send your name and any relevant details or questions to    events@fcwf.org.uk  Please use 12/5 Bird Walk as the subject of the email.

Tuesday 23rd July,  The Fungi of Childwall Woods and Fields and the Roles They Play.

A Photographic tour of the Fungi in Childwall Woods and Fields

You will have seen the many different fungi in Childwall Woods and Fields, pushing out of trees, sitting alone amongst the leaves or forming huge circles in the leaf litter, when the weather is right. All looking delightful, but did you know they’re all doing a different essential job?

Come along to the Childwall Abbey Hotel on Tuesday 23rd July at 7pm and hear their fascinating stories. Refreshments provided.
To join us look for the link here nearer to the event date.

Sunday 13th October  1pm, The Trees of Childwall Fields – A Guided Walk with Andy Scott.

Childwall Woods are justifiably well known for the size, age and splendour of their trees, and the beauty of the spring bluebells.  The trees of Childwall Fields are less well known and are interesting for different reasons.  Like their larger neighbours in Childwall Woods, the trees of Childwall Fields are also a man-made planting. Most of them are young, less than 30 years old, but they are surprisingly diverse, with over 50 species of trees to be found here.

To join Andy on this guided walk booking details will be posted nearer to the event date.
