A boundary tree from 300 years ago, this tall beech stands by the side of our new pond, overlooking the fields.
Looking good, with a circumference of 375cm it is hiding a secret on the far side. The unsheltered side of the tree has become rotten and hollowing.
An ancient characteristic but not a desirable one so near to a path.
