The Ancient and Veteran Trees of Liverpool.

The Ancient and Veteran Trees of Liverpool

Tuesday 26th March 2024  at the Childwall Abbey Hotel.
There are many wonderful old trees in Liverpool and a very special ancient one. Members of Childwall Woods and Fields were invited to go along to a talk by a verifier from the Ancient Tree Inventory and see the many stunning old trees in the woods and parks of Liverpool.

16 members joined Brenda in the function room where they heard about the ancient characteristics of very old trees that were coming to the end of their life and how to recognise the different stages, Notable, Veteran and Ancient.

Then of course there is the Allerton Oak, Liverpool’s only ancient tree, 5.5m in circumference.  But not our largest tree. There are 2 more trees larger than the Allerton Oak. Join us next time to see where they are.

Look out for the Veteran Tree Walk in Childwall Woods planned for May and join us then to see our very own special trees.

Thanks to all our lovely members who made the evening so memorable.

And many thanks to the Childwall Abbey Hotel for letting us use their function room and for providing the refreshments. It all went towards making it a lovely sociable evening.
